Over the past few years we have been hearing of Lifestyle diseases and Stress related diseases. We can even end up having lifestyle stress!
Growing up in 60s and 70s we were brought up in semi urban areas and at times rural areas. These places had scant development and very few vistas of entertainment. A movie was a luxury and had to be in a Cinema hall or in an open field - So was eating out. Home food was the staple diet and never wavered.
I still remember the culvert of a small shack would be the place to sit and have Tea or even a Samosa. Affordability was also a matter of concern. Concept of pocket money was not there and most of the families had only the Male member working.
Thus life was there but hardly any style and various pressures were there but hardly any stress! Our eating habits were healthy because all produce was largely organic. For the Non Vegetarian guys there was much more availability of Fish compared to meats. The Greens were genuinely green and not coloured.
Plastics and Polythene was just getting invented and paper was the only mode of packaging. Our food was balanced and so too the climate & environment. These were all stress busters as our Lifestyle was simple.
At times we take up responsibilities without introspecting on our competencies or band with. It aggravates our stress levels. So-know yourself better.
Going forward we ought to clearly understand that maximum aspects of life are controllable and we need not stress about it. I suppose the same goes with Life style. We don’t have to keep up with the Joneses or Sharma’s! Or else you will land up with a lifestyle you can’t handle and a stress level you can’t manage!!
As I love to Say-Live a fuller life but live in the moment! While doing that carry no baggage and have a Zero Ego. Life is great!
